Professional Memberships
MGMA is the nation's principal voice for the medical group practice profession. MGMA serves 22,500 members who lead and manage more than 13,700 organizations in which almost 275,000 physicians practice. Its diverse membership comprises administrators, CEOs, physicians in management, board members, office manager and many other management professionals. They work in medical practices and ambulatory care organizations of all sizes and types, including integrated systems and hospital- and medical school-affiliated practices. The Association started as a small network of clinic managers, called the National Association of Clinic Managers, which met for the first time in Madison, Wis., in 1926. The name was changed to the Medical Group Management Association in 1963 to reflect the diverse management roles found in group practice. The mission of MGMA is to continually improve the performance of medical group practice professionals and the organizations they represent.
Founded in 1993, the Healthcare Billing & Management Association (HBMA) is the only trade association representing third-party medical billers. HBMA members process medical billing, physician billing, insurance billing, and other claims integral to healthcare billing delivery system. HBMA members frequently perform all of the physician's practice management functions, accounts receivable management, medical billing consulting, and proactive management services.
AMBA was formed in 1998 to provide assistance to small and home-based professional medical billers with similar needs, interests and goals. Our mission as a medical billing association is to provide industry and regulatory education, networking opportunities for our members to be able to share information and ideas, and to market our member's abilities and professional services as a group. The American Medical Billing Association (AMBA) encourages and relies on member participation! We offer a totally unique concept and approach in networking, sharing of information and in building a medical billing association led by professional billers from across the nation.
