Claims Submissions with National Provider Identifier
The NPI is a unique identification number for covered health care providers, health plans and health care clearinghouses used in the administrative and financial transactions adopted under HIPAA. AdvancedMD clinical and claims processing software ensures that all submissions include this mandated identifier in compliance with applicable standards and requirements.
National Provider Identifier (NPI) Overview
AdvancedMD software includes the National Provider Identifier for greater administrative ease and compliance. The National Provider Identifier number is a ten-character, numeric identification number that is assigned by the National Plan and Provider Enumeration System (NPPES) for the purpose of uniquely identifying a medical health care professional. The National Provider Identifier maintains confidentiality, as NPI does not carry any information that could be used to recognize a particular physician, such as city, state or medical specialty.
AdvancedMD Software with Built-in NPI Number Captures More Revenue
Our web-based claims and billing software automatically includes your National Provider Identifier on all submitted claims. You can rest assured that your claims go through our claim scrubber system clean and correct – maximizing revenue capture through faster payment from payers and minimized claim rejections.
Effective Date and Compliance of the National Provider Identifier Number
Effective May 23, 2008, the U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) mandated that all medical physicians are required to submit their medical number on all claims, both on paper and with electronic software. Our software includes the physician NPI on all claims. The National Provider Identifier is a Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Administrative Simplification Standard.
