Although the majority of providers have adopted electronic health records and ePrescribing, according to Surescripts, only 4% of physicians are using controlled substance ePrescribing. When you compare that to the fact that pharmacy adoption is at 80%, it’s clear that we have work to do. The focus must now turn to implementation, usability and best practices. The standards are in place and healthcare providers need to take full advantage through the adoption and proper use of these tools.
