ICD-10 prep for procrastinators webinar
The ICD-10 deadline is awfully close. Do you feel ready for the transition? How do you know? We’d like to help you assess your progress, and hopefully give you peace of mind, with our webinar Tracking your ICD-10 progress to evaluate your risk. In this webinar, you’ll hear a comprehensive method to assess three critical areas within your practice: your people, your process and your technology.
1. The people in your practice
Having a properly trained staff is critical to transitioning to ICD-10. Your staff must be knowledgeable with the new coding changes and how to use them. Your administrative, clinical and coding/billing personnel need ICD-10 code training. Do you know how to determine how much they need to know? You’re probably thinking a pop quiz is the best course of action, but we share some more gentle ways.
2. The processes of your practice
Have you determined all processes within your practice currently using ICD-9 codes? We suggest creating a road map of every step involved with each process. After reviewing the steps comprising each process, you’ll want to identify the steps reliant upon ICD-9 codes and make changes to transition to ICD-10. To save time and money, we hope your changes are as simple as updating software, but that’s not always the case. This is a great opportunity to improve your practice’s efficiency by eliminating redundant processes and refining your practice’s workflow.
3. The technology in your practice
The final area we‘ll review is your technology. You probably know the conversion to ICD-10 impacts nearly all systems within your practice, including practice management, electronic health records and contracts. Have you made a list of the areas impacted with the transition to ICD-10 and to what degree? Can the affected systems be upgraded or do they need to be replaced completely? To complete the transition to ICD-10 you’ll need to update your charge slips, update forms, and capture more details of patient visits. These are just a few areas you’ll need to consider when updating your practice systems. We’ll discuss more technological changes you’ll need to make during your ICD-10 transition in this webinar.
