AdvancedMD Introduces Powerful iPad Charge Capture for Physicians

Company Responds to Rapid Adoption of its New Mobile App for EHR with Fast, Easy-to-Use Online Charge Entry for the iPad and iPad mini

Salt Lake City, UT – (November 19, 2012) – ADP® AdvancedMD, a leader in all-in-one, cloud electronic health record (EHR), practice management, and medical scheduling software as well as medical billing services, today announced new charge capture functionality for the ADP AdvancedMD iPad® app. Hundreds of medical practices already use the ADP AdvancedMD iPad app, released last quarter. Now physicians can use the app for charge entry instead of tedious paper-based processes, saving time and minimizing missed charges.

AdvancedMD charge capture is supported on all versions of the iPad, including the iPad mini. Now that devices are small enough to fit into a lab coat pocket, physician freedom and mobility are greatly enhanced. The AdvancedMD charge capture app is particularly powerful for physicians working at secondary sites such as clinics and hospitals, as every additional site raises the risk of a paper charge entering the billing system late, or being missed completely – at a cost of $200-400 per patient charge.

The new functionality for the iPad is designed to help physicians focus on patient care, and not on trying to track procedure code details. The charge capture feature also is aimed at helping to further streamline workflow and reduce days in accounts receivable (A/R), with the ADP AdvancedMD cloud allowing for anytime, anywhere access.

“Since our iPad app launch in July, we’ve seen a phenomenal response from physicians,” said Raul Villar, president, ADP AdvancedMD. “That’s why we have committed so much ongoing R&D to this platform, and why we developed what we believe is the best, fastest and easiest iPad charge slip entry in the industry.”

“The traditional paper-based multi-step process for mobile physicians to keep track of procedures is riddled with potential risk – from pocketed notes to typos; the app can take this stress and time sink out of the system,” said Steven ZoBell, vice president of product development, ADP AdvancedMD. “The entire charge capture can be completed in about ten seconds on the iPad or iPad mini – by navigating to patient name, charge capture tab and touching the completed procedures on the screen.”

“Charge capture on the iPad gives me a simplified way to reduce steps and ultimately save time,” said Lara Bruneau, MD. “The review bin helps me reduce clicks so now all my charges are completed while I see patients and I’m able to go home half an hour earlier. Billing includes more detail and modifiers than I’ve had before. I’m now coding properly from the start, which means cleaner claims submissions and faster reimbursement.”

The ADP AdvancedMD app for the iPad with charge capture functionality is available free of charge with an ADP AdvancedMD subscription. Charge capture on the iPad automatically brings up procedure codes with the name of the procedures and features an optional review bin checklist which provides physicians with a powerful way to keep track of outstanding charges to ensure no charges are missed. The app also provides for automatic demographic population into the charge slip, the ability to add procedures and diagnosis codes by touch, and the capability to reorder a charge slip, change units and add modifiers.

“[Our] patients are very well-educated and well-informed, and they want to see results quickly. The practice has to run extremely efficiently and be accessible to them. The nice thing about [AdvancedMD] is it has allowed me to be more efficient both in and out of the office. Now I don’t have to come back into the office, which is great for my family and everything else. It saves me a lot of time – probably an hour a day on the three days I work in the second office.”
