As the Chief Legal Officer for AdvancedMD, what does your workday look like?

As Chief Legal Officer of a high-growth technology company, I work alongside our amazing in-house legal team and an incredibly bright and talented workforce at AdvancedMD. I support the entire organization by partnering closely with each department to enable innovation while managing risk.

Within my role, I work with Product and Engineering to review new features, data use, and AI integrations. My work with our Sales and Marketing team includes structuring customer contracts, channel partnerships, advertising claims, and go-to-market strategies. I work with our Procurement and IT department to negotiate vendor agreements and strengthen cybersecurity and data protection frameworks. I work alongside HR to oversee employment matters, executive compensation, workplace policies and investigations, and with Finance to manage corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and M&A activity. I also work extensively with my executive teammates and the board to provide strategic guidance on risk, ethics, and long-term growth.

Ultimately, my role is to deliver practical, business-oriented legal solutions that protect the company while accelerating its objectives.

With significant experience as a legal professional in highly regulated industries like healthcare technology, what do you love most about your work?

I love my work because it is challenging. It requires balancing innovation with risk in a fast-moving environment. It is fun because I collaborate with brilliant teams across the organization, solve complex problems creatively, and help bring new ideas to market. Most importantly, strong legal guidance protects customers, employees, and stakeholders, it also promotes ethical decision making, and ensures the company grows responsibly while contributing positively to society.

I take pride in my team’s ability to answer complex questions and the discovery process involved—it’s so very gratifying when we’re able to resolve an issue that, at first glance, feels insurmountable.

Has the explosion of generative AI within the industry changed your approach to work?

I am excited about how we have embraced the opportunities created by artificial intelligence, both internally and how we are pushing out AI-enabled products and services for our customers.

From an end user standpoint, AdvancedMD has been 100% committed to a conscientious and responsible deployment of artificial intelligence. Our entire organization believes that this approach is paramount—especially in healthcare where we’re experiencing shifting paradigms around everything from how care is delivered to how practices manage their daily operations.

The use of artificial intelligence in our products and services provides a significant opportunity for practices and physicians to be more efficient and to be more nimble. AI can have a positive impact on their bottom line, as well as how they deliver care. It’s why we’ve taken an extremely intentional and responsible approach to deploying AI-enabled solutions.

What do you love most about AdvancedMD?

It’s the people. There is so much talent at AdvancedMD. Across the entire organization, our teams are so bright. I learn so much from everyone—our technology teams, our implementation teams, and my colleagues on the leadership team. For someone like me, who is naturally curious and has a disposition towards wanting to learn new things, AdvancedMD is a great place to work.

I regularly cross paths with teammates who are doing things outside of my comfort zone and exposing me to new activities and experiences. It makes me a better professional, but it also provides an opportunity to have fun and build deep and meaningful relationships with my colleagues outside of work.

We spend so much time at work every single day. The way I see it, if we’re going to take time away from our family to be part of and contribute to an organization, it should be a place where you want to spend time with people you care about. The people who I work with make coming to work so easy. That’s what I love most about AdvancedMD.

Why do you think independent practices and providers rely on AdvancedMD for their EHR, practice management, and patient engagement solutions?

We take pride in the fact that customers appreciate the way our products and services move care forward. Our unified EHR, practice management, and patient engagement solutions can significantly enhance how private practices operate. Healthcare organizations get held back with administrative burdens that can make growth feel impossible. Our scalable platform runs clinical, financial, and operational workflows while ensuring providers get paid accurately and efficiently for the care they provide.

The AdvancedMD platform streamlines revenue cycle processes to reduce friction, improve cash flow, and minimize administrative burdens, using modern technology and AI‑driven automation. Rather than relying on disconnected point solutions, I have come to see that providers choose AdvancedMD because of our integrated system, and because they trust us as a long‑term partner, built to support their growth and provide operational clarity.

How do you like to spend your time when you’re not at the office?

I played a lot of team sports growing up, and being an athlete remains a big part of my life. I love golf, skiing, and I run nearly every day. I also love to travel, especially with my family.   My daughter is an excellent tennis player, so we all went to Wimbledon last year to watch the pros play. The year before that we traveled to Paris to watch the French Open. It was such a memorable trip, and Paris is my favorite city in the world. It’s always been an incredible place for me.
