With more than 20 years of professional experience at AdvancedMD, Jessica oversees the team that ensures our customers have what they need to succeed.

Jessica Kojima first joined AdvancedMD over 20 years ago as a senior training manager, showing both customers and employees how to maximize the benefits of our software solutions. During her tenure, she has grown alongside the company, watching it evolve from 40 employees to a workforce of more than 600. Now, as the Vice President of Professional Services, she leads the team charged with supporting AdvancedMD customers, ensuring they have what they need to succeed. 

According to Jessica, the best thing about being part of AdvancedMD is the people, including her team, her colleagues, and the customers she supports. They are the heart of AdvancedMD, and the reason she has remained committed to the organization for more than two decades. 

Tell us more about your role, responsibilities & your team.

As Vice President of Professional Services at AdvancedMD, I have the privilege of partnering with prospects, new clients, and long-standing customers, while also leading an incredible team dedicated to our customers’ success. 

The AdvancedMD professional services group works directly with our customers, ensuring they have a seamless experience onboarding and using AdvancedMD solutions across their practice. We help private practices implement our software platforms and facilitate EDI (electronic data interchange) agreements. We deliver custom configurations, templates, and reporting, and also certify both clients and employees on AdvancedMD solutions. We also provide ongoing strategic support for enterprise clients through our relationship management team and continued service delivery initiatives. 

My team’s primary goal is to help practices take full advantage of AdvancedMD solutions so that they can improve daily operations and scale their business. Fortunately, I thrive in fast-paced environments, and I can’t think of any industry that is evolving as rapidly as the healthcare industry. My team and I not only embrace change, we are helping healthcare providers do the very same—delivering the tools they need to streamline workflows, automate key processes, and fortify the financial health of their practice. 

Ultimately, our role is to help providers and their staff work more efficiently so they can dedicate more of their time to what matters most: caring for their patients.

With more than 20 years of tenure at AdvancedMD, what does the company mean to you? 

It’s hard to put into words just how much AdvancedMD has become a part of who I am. What began as a job has evolved into a lifelong career filled with growth, challenge, and purpose. 

During the last 20 years, I have had a front row seat to the evolution of AdvancedMD. I have witnessed AdvancedMD transform through countless stages of growth, from early expansion when we had 40 employees to now with more than 600 employees. I’ve also been here through multiple acquisitions, each one bringing its own challenges and opportunities. 

Change has always been a constant here, and I’ve always embraced it because change is a clear sign that we are moving forward towards our goals. These transitions have taught me to be adaptable and resilient, but they have also deepened my appreciation for the people who make this company so special. My team shows up every day ready to learn and to pivot when we need to. We work hard to build something better so that we can continue to improve and grow.

What do you love most about being part of AdvancedMD? 

When I started at AdvancedMD, I never imagined I’d still be here 20 years later. Over the past two decades, this company has become so much more than just a job. It is where I have built lasting friendships and created so many meaningful memories. 

The people I work with every day, along with the clients I’ve come to know, have shaped my journey. There has always been something special about AdvancedMD. The culture. The camaraderie. The focus on providing tools that help our customers improve patient outcomes. There are so many things that have kept me here all these years.

What do you enjoy most about leading the professional services organization? 

When it comes to my work, what I love most are the people I work with. The opportunity I have to guide, mentor, and empower my team every single day—and to make a difference in the professional lives of our customers—brings me such joy and such a deep level of professional satisfaction. 

Every day, I get to watch incredibly talented individuals come together to solve complex problems. We support our customers through the difficult process of introducing a new technology platform into their practices, while also delivering outcomes that have a real impact on healthcare providers and their patients. It’s truly gratifying to know that what you do makes people’s lives better. 

When I first joined AdvancedMD, I started as a senior training manager. My focus was on helping customers and internal teams understand not just how to use our software, but how to maximize its impact on the practice. As the company grew, so did the needs of our customers. I grew up here as well, taking on broader operational duties and leadership responsibilities. 

Serving as Vice President of Professional Services has given me the opportunity to build processes, scale teams, and align my team’s strategy with the organization’s overarching goals. I have had to learn to lead through ambiguity and navigate personal and professional growth, while also maintaining focus on both people and performance. I have had to continuously adapt and think forward, all lessons that have shaped my leadership style.

I have grown at AdvancedMD and become the leader I am today because I’ve been surrounded by people who believe in me, challenge me, and trust me with opportunities to learn and lead.

Why do independent practices rely on AdvancedMD for their medical office software needs? 

I think it has a lot to do with our corporate culture. At AdvancedMD, our culture isn’t just something we talk about—it is something our customers can feel with every interaction they have with our team. The reason so many providers choose us, and stay with us, comes down to the people behind the product. Our shared commitment to do what is right for our customers creates a foundation of trust that cannot be replicated through technology alone.

The providers that use AdvancedMD are not just buying software; they are partnering with a team of people who have helped thousands of practices onboard technology solutions. We work with practices through massive changes, major growth, multiple challenges, and many opportunities. 

AdvancedMD has a lot of employees with several years of tenure because our organization nurtures curiosity and prioritizes compassion. We have learned how to navigate industry shifts, regulatory changes, acquisitions, and evolving care models. We understand on an in-depth level what it takes to help private practices succeed. 

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not supporting AdvancedMD customers?

When I am home, you’ll most likely find me spending time with my husband, our daughter, and our Yorkie. Family means everything to me. I come from a very large family, and some of my favorite moments are when we are all together.

I love to travel, put me on a beach anywhere with a good book, and I am in my happy place. Reading has always been my way to disconnect and recharge. It is where I find quiet in the middle of all of life’s noise. Most recently, I have taken up Mahjong, and it is quickly becoming a new obsession. I love the strategy and the social side of it. 

I also enjoy discovering a new restaurant or hosting friends at home. Food is one of my favorite ways to connect with people. I value connections most of all, with my family, friends, and my team. Those relationships and experiences are what keep me grounded and inspired.
