Pricing comparison

AdvancedMD offers flexible pricing.
Per-provider rates run from $278 to $1,070 per provider per month depending on specialty ($429 to $1,070 for medical specialties, $130 to $399 for mental health, $399 for physical medicine and addiction medicine, $278 for MedSpa). Per-encounter pricing is also available at $0.87 to $1.74 per claim for practice management alone, or $1.08 to $2.17 per claim when bundled with EHR. Combining products can save up to 40% versus purchasing separately.

DrChrono offers three tiers.
Foundation, Growth and Premium, but does not publish pricing publicly. All plans require a custom quote from a sales representative. Extended lab integration runs $30 per provider per month as an add-on, and overage fees apply beyond plan limits: $0.05 per text, $0.07 per faxed page and $0.10 per phone call.

Support & Onboarding

AdvancedMD support operates entirely domestically via phone, chat and email out of its Utah headquarters. For practices dealing with critical billing errors or time-sensitive clinical workflow disruptions, having live, US-based access handles urgent troubleshooting quickly. AdvancedMD implementations feature a structured, expert-led training framework with dedicated in-house onboarding managers who handle data migrations and system setups.

DrChrono handles training through a structured, six-phase onboarding model expected to span roughly 60 calendar days. New accounts are paired with an implementation specialist through web-conferencing sessions to manage configuration tasks, form building and workflow simulations before going live. Customer support runs through a hybrid ticket queue alongside digital learning courses in DrChrono’s help center.

Is DrChrono cheaper than AdvancedMD?

It’s hard to say without a quote. DrChrono doesn’t publish pricing for any of its three tiers (Foundation, Growth and Premium). AdvancedMD publishes per-provider rates from $278 to $1,070 per month depending on specialty, plus per-encounter pricing from $0.87 to $2.17 per claim, which makes it easier to estimate cost before a sales conversation.

Does AdvancedMD work for independent practices like DrChrono does?

Yes. AdvancedMD supports solo providers and independent clinics across more than 70 specialties. The main operational difference is scaling capacity: DrChrono is built around standalone workflows, while AdvancedMD is engineered to accommodate high-growth networks, group practices and large billing organizations.

Does AdvancedMD offer AI clinical documentation like DrChrono's EverHealth Scribe?

Yes, both platforms offer AI charting as a paid add-on. DrChrono’s EverHealth Scribe is built into its mobile charting view. AdvancedMD’s AI documentation add-on syncs notes across its broader practice management and patient tracking database.

Which EHR is better for multi-location or multi-specialty practices?

AdvancedMD. It includes native multi-specialty templates and full Central Billing Office (CBO) setups. DrChrono’s platform is built more around simpler, single-specialty independent offices.

Can I use AdvancedMD on Android?

No. AdvancedMD’s mobile apps are built exclusively for iOS and iPadOS. DrChrono can be accessed through a browser on desktop, but its flagship mobile app is also built primarily around iOS and iPad.

What specialties does DrChrono support compared to AdvancedMD?

DrChrono concentrates its workflow templates around primary care, family medicine, behavioral health, podiatry and physical therapy. AdvancedMD supports nearly the entire clinical spectrum, covering all specialties except dental and optometry.

Does DrChrono support medical billing companies (CBO)?

Yes. DrChrono includes a Central Billing Office module for tracking financials and claims collections across multiple office branches. AdvancedMD has a larger footprint in this space, powering more than 900 standalone medical billing companies.

How do AdvancedMD and DrChrono compare on telehealth?

DrChrono includes native, HIPAA-compliant telehealth in its clinical interface at no added monthly cost. AdvancedMD delivers telehealth through a third-party integration, which may carry additional service fees depending on your setup.
