AdvancedMD Remains Committed to Its ICD-10 Development Schedule

AdvancedMD Technology Validated and Ready; Supports Providers Through No-Cost Upgrade, Simultaneous ICD-9 and ICD-10 Support

Salt Lake City, UT – (April 03, 2014) – ADP® AdvancedMD, a leader in all-in-one, cloud electronic health record (EHR),practice management, and medical scheduling software as well as medical billing services, today announced its participation in, and successful completion of, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) ICD-10 Testing Week and its continued support of the needs of small and independent medical practices in light of the March 31 vote by Congress to delay ICD-10 implementation and the April 1  signing of the bill by President Barack Obama.

Said Raul Villar, President, ADP AdvancedMD: “It’s a relief to know that private practices will not be facing a 24% reduction in Medicare reimbursements under SGR and the costs associated with ICD-10 migration this year.”

“We believe the delay of the October 1, 2014, ICD-10 deadline was a welcome reprieve to those private practices struggling with migration tasks.  We remain committed to our ICD-10 development schedule, releasing features that will guide our clients through their practice implementation process and enabling their participation in testing cycles with insurance carriers, as they become ready. Our dual coding feature enables our clients to handle day-to-day activities in ICD-9, yet easily conduct carrier tests in ICD-10. This vote by Congress does not change our timeline or strategy, it simply enables the AdvancedMD platform to be further tested and enhanced,” added Villar.

As an example, in early March ADP AdvancedMD and beta clients participated in CMS testing week. All claims submitted by physicians from the ADP AdvancedMD platform were acknowledged and accepted by Medicare, indicating preparedness for AdvancedMD customers.

“We are delighted with AdvancedMD’s successful completion of the CMS tests,” said Steven ZoBell, CTO and VP of Product Development, ADP AdvancedMD. “We want to thank the many customers who participated in this collaboration and testing.”

But technology is only one part of preparedness. Practices play an equally critical role in terms of proper documentation and the need to code to a new level of specificity in order to deliver a clean claim. ZoBell offers the following tips to practices to begin their preparation for the future ICD-10 go-live date:

  1. Analyze and confirm top revenue-generating codes
  2. Determine which of your most common procedures and diagnoses will be impacted by ICD-10
  3. Check practice documentation habits – do they support the new, higher level of specificity ICD-10 will require
  4. Confirm whether financing is appropriate for your practice
