EMR/EHR

National Doctors’ Day, which is celebrated on March 30 each year, was established to recognize physicians for their work and their contributions to the community and society. It’s the perfect opportunity for us to say thank you to our many independent doctor-clients for your service.

Little Known Facts About Doctors’ Day:

  • The day was officially signed into U.S. law in the early 1990s by President George Bush
  • History dates Doctors’ Day back to the early 1930s
  • The day was conceived by Eudora Brown Almond, wife of Dr. Crawford Long from Georgia
  • March 30 was chosen as the anniversary of the day that anesthesia was first administered to a patient by Dr. Long in 1842
  • Dr. Long used ether to anesthetize a patient before Dr. John Collins Warren surgically removed a tumor from the patient’s neck
  • The red carnation became the symbol, signifying the qualities of sacrifice, charity, courage, bravery and love

More than the application of science and technology, medicine is a special calling, and those of you who have chosen this vocation in order to serve your fellowman understand the tremendous responsibility it entails.

Common to the experience of each doctor, from the researcher, to the general practitioner and the specialist, are hard work, stress and sacrifice. All of you who serve as licensed physicians have engaged in years of study and training, often at great financial cost. Most endure long and unpredictable hours, and many must cope with the conflicting demands of work and family life.

We thank you for your dedication and sacrifice. Happy National Doctors’ Day.
